Business Birth Story

By 2023 Cat Walker had over a decade of experience in the management of veterinary business, large departments, and entire practices in settings ranging from general practice to emergency hospitals. Through her own experience and that of the many guests she has interviewed on Radio Vet Nurse it was clear that veterinary practice managers and leaders are in dire need of support. Cat Walker Mediation & Consulting Services was born in response to this need and in light of Cat’s niche legal, clinical and management skill set.

In addition to the value Cat can bring to this area through her wealth of industry knowledge and legal training, Cat became a qualified multidisciplinary mediator and online mediation specialist. She sat her accreditation exam and is a National Accredited Mediator (NMAS).

Core Service - Mediation

The Business offers mediation services to a broad range of matters. Mediation and ADR services are available Australia wide via Zoom or in-person. While Cat’s particular experience in workplace and allied health practice settings makes her an obvious choice for such matters, she welcomes enquiries for the mediation of any matters (apart from family mediation for which she is not qualified). Cat views conflict as a natural and universal experience and offers her clients the opportunity to work through conflict with a safe, grounded, compassionate, and down to earth approach.

Veterinary and Allied Health Services Consulting

The Business provides consulting services to a range of veterinary and allied health services and practice-based professionals across Australia. This includes conflict management, conflict coaching delivered to teams or on a one-on-one basis, Practice Manager group mentoring via professional development support program “Practice Manager SOS”, and practice operations consulting.

Cat uses her experience as a multidisciplinary mediator, solicitor, veterinary business owner and manager to provide objective advice and support to practice owners, managers and their teams. She is able to help them to understand, prioritise and confront issues before they result in resignations, loss of clients, negative feedback and ultimately devalue the practice.
